1080 N. State Street, Ste. A, Ukiah, CA 95482 · (707) 462-2626 · Owner: Tom Fletcher
Tom Fletcher started working at DFM when he was 18 years old, when booming stereos in mini trucks, cruising up and down State Street was a regular activity for Ukiah youth. DFM was the best place to get a tricked out stereo system and that is when Tom’s interest in car audio peaked. Now fast forward a few decades, Tom received assistance from EDFC with a CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) business loan and is now the proud owner.
The business has evolved over the years. Initially DFM was strictly car audio but in 2007 DFM expanded their business to include home audio systems and furniture. Currently, DFM provides home furniture, home audio, car audio, leather seat installation and they also install Smart Start interlock systems. Tom has a dedicated staff of eight employees and he took ownership on November 17, 2021. Tom shared “DFM has the lowest prices on quality furniture in Ukiah.” There are couches, recliners, light fixtures, custom wood tables and more! When asked about his experience working with EDFC and our Executive Director/Lending Manager, Robert Gernert specifically, Tom shared originally he was trying to work with a local bank but after 6 months of run-around, the bank referred him to EDFC. “Robert (EDFC) did more for me in two months, than anyone else, and the process was smooth.” You can find Tom at the Hopland Fire Station where he is an active Firefighter, serving his community when he isn’t at DFM.
CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) offers responsible, affordable lending so business ownership can be a reality. Visit DFM Car & Home Audio located at 1080 North State Street, Ste A, Ukiah, California for all of your car and home audio needs.

Willits, CA

When Lisa Kvasnicka first met with a local bank to secure funding to open SCOOPS a frozen yogurt and deli in Willits, she was turned down for a SBA loan. The bank referred her to EDFC. Lisa had the vision but needed financial backing to fix up the location, buy equipment and hire staff to open her doors to the Willits community. After meeting with EDFC’s Executive Director at that time John Kuhry, Lisa was able to put her plans into action. “EDFC was with us all the way. From our initial interview, to opening day, to present day— I’ve felt supported!”
Originally Scoops offered various flavors of frozen yogurt and deli sandwiches. Lisa has switched out the frozen yogurt with ice cream and has a menu with something for everyone. There are specialty sandwiches, or you can build your own sandwich, baked spuds, wraps, hot dogs and salads to choose from. There are 8 flavors of ice cream and a cold case with various goodies from other local artisans. Cold and hot beverages. Lisa also offers catering.
Next time you are in Willits stop in SCOOPS and experience the small town welcoming atmosphere and get some delicious food.
